Mic, Brian, and Jeff and joined by Andrew to continue their look at the upheaval Peter Zeihan foresees. Two more of those ramifications that will (and are already starting to) effect the average citizens are, the hourglass-shaped employment model and the potential explosion of immigration when people in the poorer regions try to get into the regions that fared better. Decreased cultural assimilation points to a balkanization of once-common cultures.

On Matt's return from the library, and his narrow escape, he comes across discarded pallets. Building material for an outhouse. Back at his hillside, Matt spade-tills his corn patch and plants his seed, but needs water with no rain in sight. While borrowing buckets from Abi for river water, she tells him of her grandfather's dried up well farther up the hillside. Matt begins digging it out, in hopes of a closer water source.

Abi talks Matt into helping her take a big old chair to the local transfer station's Swap Shop. While there, Matt discovers an abundance of castoff building materials. Abi coaxes him into taking a tennis ball named Wilson so he'll have someone to talk to. Later, Matt shops for groceries in Lincoln and is surprised by the garish bustle of a tourist town in tourist season. After groceries, he returns to the library to find a book on wild edibles so he doesn't have to buy veggies. Erin is helpful again.

Your three self-appointed doomologists examine the first tranche of dooms, rating each one as either "Yellow" (not a big deal), "Orange" (maybe a deal) or "Red" (a big deal one ought to prep for). In many cases, they explain their 'vote' and sometimes with bits of advice about what you might do about it, if it rated an orange or red. See if you agree with their "professional" doomological opinions.

Matt is returning home from the transfer station with a heavy load of used concrete block. The load breaks one of his truck's spring shackles. He limps in to Gus's shop. Gus takes pity on the nearly broke Matt and does the work for free. He tells Matt about the saw mill down in Wentworth that hires day laborers. Matt gets a job that next morning. He his workmate is a grizzled homeless man named Edward. He gives Matt some tips on eating cheaply – dumpster diving.
