Martin tries to find a hotel room for Susan before continuing his trek home. The trouble is, all the other people stuck in Boston by the outage have already filled the hotels, or people are fighting over the few rooms left. They must search farther out from the city.

Makes me think I should take my Harley, or even the old dirt bike into the city. Then if it all went to heck, I could sneak out of the parking lot called Boston. Love the dig about ”LA, Ferguson, or Baltimore” falling into riots. Those are cities full of brown/black folks. Bostonians ought to know better is the author’s hint... What would cause such a widespread outage? Terrorist environmentalists? Commies? Years ago my mom was doing an internship in San Francisco during the big earthquake out there. Everyone from Marin with a car picked up people needing rides and drove them to their front door. Californians are such hippies. Martin’s got one of them do-nothing jobs. He ought to be a welder or machinist or something. I got paid for the work I did for my merit badge, even though I’d said I was working for free. I felt conflicted about it, but on the other hand, working for free is un-American. Cities have more resources, but lots of people...THOSE people.
